breast cancer ribbon (2).pngWhat is breast screening, who is responsible for delivery and who is eligible

Breast screening uses X-rays, called mammograms, to look for cancers that are too small to see or feel.  Invitations are managed by the local breast screening services: East Sussex, Brighton & Hove, Surrey & North East Hampshire and West Sussex.

Asset 1 Screening could save your life.jpgBreast screening is offered to those registered with a GP as female, aged 50 to 70, to detect early signs of breast cancer.

Anyone over the age of 53, including those aged over 70, who has not been screened in the last three years and wishes to be screened,  should contact their local breast screening service.

Breast screening awareness

Breast screening saves lives.pngOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage uptake to the breast screening programme as well as share information on signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

Visit our events calendar to find resources such as posters and leaflets for patient waiting rooms and community settings to support awareness events during October.  We upload awareness materials a few weeks before October.
