Psychosocial aspects of breast reconstruction

Event date and time: 11 September 2024, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Who should attend:

All healthcare professionals.

In this webinar, professor Diana Harcourt and professor Alex Clarke will consider the psychosocial aspects of breast reconstruction, including ways in which health professionals can support women through the decision-making period. This includes the use of PEGASUS - an intervention designed to facilitate shared decision-making by eliciting each patient’s own expectations of what she wants to achieve, setting patient-centred goals, and aiding discussion of these expectations and goals with the surgical team. They will also consider the early post-operative period and women’s experiences of seeing the results of their surgery for the first time, and how they could be supported at this particular time.
