The Pathway Analyser Tool
Pathway Analyser is a tool by the NHS Intensive Support Team and designed to help identify bottlenecks and barriers in a cancer pathway.
If you have heard about the Pathway Analyser Tool but don’t know what it is or how to use it, then we have a suite of training videos which will provide the answers. The videos give an overview of the basics of the Pathway Analyser Tool, explain the outputs you can expect and provide some tips and tricks to making the most out of this tool.
The Pathway Analyser Templates are pre-built pathway analyser models for specific tumour sites based on the national best practice timed pathways. The models provide indepth pathway specific details using patient pathway information. This helps formulate improvement plans. We have templates for the breast, gyneacological, lung, lower and upper gastrointestinal (GI) and urology pathways.
The Pathway Analyser Visualisation Tool creates an easy-to-read visualisation of your pathway analyser models.
62-day Cancer Performance Action Plan
The 62-day Cancer Performance Action Plan enables Trusts to identify and address challenges in cancer pathways that are not meeting the 62-day cancer performance standard. The national ambition is for 85% of patients to receive their first treatment within 62 days of being referred or a consultant upgrade. Any delay in cancer treatment risks a patient’s tumour progressing from being curable to becoming non-curable.
This resource includes a 62-day action plan template and a toolkit providing a step-by-step guide to completing the template and identifying areas for improvement.
Demand and Capacity Models
NHS England’s Demand and Capacity team has created models to enable Trusts to explore how their service operates.
The models look at two key metrics:
- the balance of required capacity versus available capacity
- the number of patients waiting to be seen versus the calculated sustainable waiting list size
